I am a seasoned in-house design director with a solid and diverse portfolio of effective and proven solutions. I offer extensive experience in marketing communications, editorial and publication design, brand strategy and management, and client relations for corporate organizations, academic research institutions, and creative communications teams.

I feel blessed to have witnessed first hand the digital transformation brought on by the desktop revolution. I have a natural ability to adapt, evolve, and transform myself in order to meet the ever changing demands of graphic design and visual communications.

 

Continuous learning has always been an essential part of staying a top designer, and as our toolboxes and media landscapes continued to change, maintaining the necessary skills needed to succeed, and excel, has remained essential.

I have always been a bit of a magpie—a collector. Holding on to the scores of polaroid proofs that represent my days art directing photo shoots before digital photography is a reminder to me that my design experience is built on a broad, comprehensive, and solid foundation.

Creative Director

University Communications provides communications and marketing services that advance the University of Miami’s mission, reputation, and identity as a leading academic and research institution.

  • Responsible for management of the brand identity, art direction, design, and production procedures for the Division of University Communications.

  • Key player in the University’s re-branding initiative and visual identity system implementation.

  • Directed and supervised departmental design staff that included 4 art directors and 1 senior graphic designer, as well as freelance contract employees, vendors, and suppliers. Coordinated design staff effort and talent for maximum efficiency and quality to achieve the strategic goals of all communications materials.

  • Served as a senior account executive for various high-priority communications projects as assigned.  Met with clients University-wide, assessed needs and project requirements, developed budgets and schedules, and provided solutions and follow-through.

  • Developed marketing strategies and created ongoing integrated design systems—from concept through completed product. Key areas of focus included the University of Miami President’s Report, comprehensive fundraising campaigns, development communications, alumni communications, and general institutional communications.

  • Responsible for all Art direction and design of the University’s magazine Miami, The University of Miami Magazine

  • Developed and monitored design studio procedures and maintained cost-efficient, streamlined, production workflow. Responsible for all deadlines, execution, project budgets, and materials and resources management of the design studio. Managed the staff in imaging requirements, coordinates photography resources, and related technology issues.

  • Worked with the department production manager to develop and adhere to project specifications, budgets, schedules, vendor relationships, and project and studio procedures. Monitored design staff in adherence to these guidelines.

    Buffalo Business.

  • Art directed and designed high-end multi-publication brochure series for the School of Medicine’s Primary Care Resource Center.

  • Designed logos and identities for various initiatives and events including the University’s Sesquicentennial Celebration.

  • Awarded permanent appointment in 1996.
